Binding Broken Hearts

Introducing Jesus to those Who Need Him Most

Introduction

We live in a broken world—broken families, broken friendships, broken hearts, and broken lives scatter across the landscape as far as the eye can see. Promises seem meaningless, loyalty is rare, and jobs are scarce. It feels like there’s no one to turn to, no one we can truly count on. Or is there?

Amazingly, in a world seemingly broken beyond repair, there is Someone who can put the pieces back together. Someone who will bind up every broken heart and every broken life that is brought to Him. Someone who will never disappoint, who can be depended upon, who cares deeply, who sees each tear, and who longs to give comfort. That Someone is Jesus, and He alone has the healing power so desperately needed in a broken world. He won’t just glue the pieces back together; He makes everything new.

Ministry Guidelines

Due to the size of our team and restrictions from the Department of Corrections, we’ve implemented a few guidelines:

  • We cannot take phone calls; please write to us by letter.
  • We can only send materials that we produce, including Bible lessons and books.
  • We provide Bibles (NKJV, comfort giant print) when available. If we cannot send a Bible immediately, we will continue sending letters as long as we have your address and you wish to receive them.

Resources Available

  • Bibles – NKJV, comfort giant print with center-column references and full-color maps.
  • Letters – We send monthly letters based on the Bible’s teachings and respond to your questions. If you don’t request to continue receiving letters after six months (or three years for those previously requesting letters), we’ll remove you from the mailing list. However, you will always remain on our prayer list.
  • Bible Study Lessons – Lessons accompany each letter, graded, and awarded with a certificate upon completion.
  • Study Books – We offer several bound Bible study books, including Knowing Jesus, Growing in Christ, and Sanctuary Living. Let us know if you’d like to receive any of these.
  • Devotional Books – Free devotionals include The Value of One and The Power of the Word.

We are here to support your spiritual growth and encourage you to keep trusting in God’s love and grace.

Our Vision and Mission

Our vision is to provide a Bible to every inmate in the United States, sharing God’s transformative Word with those in need of Jesus.

Our mission is to help incarcerated individuals realize their worth in Christ and understand they are not forgotten by God. We aim to serve in His vineyard, preparing souls for His return.

To achieve this, Binding Broken Hearts serves inmates in local, state, and federal correctional facilities across the U.S. by offering free Bibles, personalized letters, and Bible studies.

Each inmate who requests a Bible receives a bonded leather New King James Bible, a Bible study guide, and a personalized letter responding to their spiritual concerns.

Since 2009, we’ve distributed 15,500 Bibles and mailed 345,000 letters to 18,600 inmates in 990 facilities across 43 states.

Thousands of U.S. Inmates Receive Andrews Study Bibles

On June 1, 2016, the Adventist Review published an article entitled, “Thousands of U.S. Inmates Receive Andrews Study Bibles,” which highlights the ministry of Binding Broken Hearts.

The article includes information on how Binding Broken Hearts was started, what we’re doing now, and the Bibles that we send to the inmates.

There is Power in God's Word

Why do we focus on sharing the Bible, especially with inmates? Because there is power in God’s word.

“The creative energy that called the worlds into existence is in the word of God. This word imparts power; it begets life. Every command is a promise; accepted by the will, received into the soul, it brings with it the life of the Infinite One. It transforms the nature and re-creates the soul in the image of God.”
(Education, p. 126)

Our Calling

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion,
To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”

Isaiah 61:1-3
